Grand Canyon: From the Rim
One day after a shorter hike, we walked along the (south) rim for a little while. It gave us some spectacular views of the canyon, often with interesting framing through the vegetation. But I was also struck by just how flat and seemingly unremarkable the terrain just a few hundred feet away from the canyon is. I mean, yes, I know it's a plateau, but it's still fascinating how suddenly the ground just drops away.
